The second day of the 84-hour nationwide general strike, called by the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance, is passing off across Bangladesh today (Monday) amid stray incidents of crude bomb blasts and arson attack. The hartal, enforced to press the Awami League-led government for arranging the next national polls under a non-party administration, will scheduled to end at 6:00pm on Wednesday. In the Dhaka city, a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw was set on fire allegedly by some pickets in the Rayerbagh area of Jatrabari at dawn. A number of crude bombs were blasted on Link Road of Badda, Mohakhali, Malibagh rail crossing, Mirpur-11, Kazipara and Mipur-1 in the early hours of the hartal.
