Six activists of Islami Ain Bastobayon Committee (IABC) were detained while staging a procession in front of the city's Baitul Mukarram National Mosque yesterday.
IABC held a meeting on the mosque compound after Zohr prayers to protest the "deletion of absolute trust and faith in Allah" from the constitution, said IABC Press Secretary Ahlullah Wasel.
Afterwards, a procession in similar protest was to begin when the police charged baton on the procession injuring at least 25 activists, he said.
Later however, IABC activists staged their pre-scheduled procession.
Shahidul Haq, officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station, said the activists were detained for holding the procession without permission, causing public sufferings.
