The High Court yesterday adjourned till October 17 the hearing on a contempt of court rule against two politicians and a talk-show moderator of Ekushey Television.
The court issued a suo moto rule on August 10 asking BNP chairperson's adviser Ahmed Azam Khan, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal leader Razequzzaman Ratan and Anjan Roy, moderator of the show on Ekushey Television, to explain why they should not be punished for making a 'derogatory' remark about the court.
The court adjourned the hearing following separate time petitions submitted by the respondents through their lawyers.
The bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore also ordered the respondents to appear before it on October 17.
Azam, Ratan and Anjan appeared before the bench yesterday as per its August 10 order.
Barrister Rafique-ul Huq, Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokon and Advocate KM Hafizul Alam appeared for the respondents.
